Bible on the Go! (Mobile Bible) part 2

Guess what? I have successfully installed the 'mobile bible' in my Sony Ericsson mobile phone. Oh... what a happy day it is. After error and countless error(s) made, I found out I didn't really reading EVERY instructions (and that's include everything between the line). Could this just a fluke or just my lucky day? It's up to you...

For now, I'd installed the Indonesian Version and am going to try the English one next. Still thinking of choosing between International English version and NKJV.

Let me share some tips that might just help you okies. If you have more better tips.. do PLEASE share the good things. God will bless you accordingly! (*^,)

I downloaded mine from Go Bible. Just follow the instructions.. seriously people... DO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. Only copy .jar and .jad files into your phone. For Sony Ericsson users (like me), this guide really-really helped me (click here).

Now then, there should be no excuses for not reading your bible huh?!?!

Time to sharpen thy "Sword of Truth" everyone....

Bible on the Go! (Mobile Bible)

Well this post might be lame for some BUT still... I want to post it (^^!). I've been looking forever for "mobile Bible" application. Today, I am being so enthusiastic browsing the internet to look for some. I believe that most of us knew that 'we can find such things with internet' but the googling job is not as easy as it sound. Since I've made effort today... guess I'll be super generous and share my foundings with you all (it's a good thing to share blessing to others okay).

But STILL, you need to make effort to look which one is the best for your handphone. PLEASE DON'T ASK ME since I am clueless in this matter as well (am no gadget master ok). If you are one professional person on this matter, please do not hesitate and DO leave your comment. You are very-very the most welcome (there I goes with my broken language).

And ooh.. a little bit of LOVING reminder (^^,) : PLEASE USE DECENT (rephrase as PROPER) SPELLING OKIES... (jangan makan cili supaya ndak terasa pedas) Not everyone here is so young in the mind to have their brain set the creativity in spelling. Plus, it'll do good in your English or bahasa as well. hohoho...

I am not a camp / seminar-type person. However, there’s one camp that I was forced into but ended up felt blessed and refreshed. It was the UTM IK’s Camp in 1998 (IK-Ikatan Krisian). I must admit I hated the moment that I gave in to the urges made by fellow church’s friends. I remembered giving so many excuses that I lost count and thanks to my crazy hectic life due to my course I took, I have all the reason in the world to avoid things like that. But never did I know that a new side in life started from there.

The camp was going as normal as it can until we had a prayer session after Pastor Rajan talked about the power of prayer. Hmm, sounded like very cliché and yes, heard it so many times and almost very closed to my heart. ALMOST… why? I’ve heard sermons, talks, read books that talk about the power of prayer, how God answers our prayer…yada-yada-yada (the list goes on) but I never had really encountered an experience that really gave me the satisfaction on how God works in prayer. Think that I have high demand? Go one with the blame, this WAS true .. once upon a time *wink*.

During the prayer session, pastor Rajan told us to ask God for something…anything. As the time flies, more and more were getting something, visions etc. I was not sure with what I had seen in my prayer. I did not asked for specific thing. At that moment I was more like thinking about all the works I left behind at the studio. But I just followed the flow and prayed. In different states, I saw two items (it was very clear actually); a waterfall along a clear-crystal-like river and a crown. As I was a bit sceptical at that moment, I don’t dare to share what I’d seen with anyone since the pastor said that SOME people may have their minds wandering here and there and what they saw was just something … mind-playing. I don’t want to embarrass myself sharing something that might be one of the mind-playing thingy.

But after the session finished, while we were chatting with each other before going off to bed, a sister, sis Vivian came to me, stared at my feet for a while and asked me TO TAKE OFF MY SHOE. Okay, here we were in the hotel lobby and there she was asking me to take off my shoe!??? I was shocked and looked at her for a while. Again she insisted me to TAKE OFF MY SHOE! So I took my shoe/ sandal off. The friends that I am with at the moment all stand in silence. She looked at me shoe and looked at me and said “It’s you!!”. I was shocked again, and AFRAID! It’s like, okay … what wrong-doings have I done that she found out? She excused herself and asked if she could talk to me privately. Feeling very-very unsecured, I answered YES. Well, if you know who Vivian is, you might as well felt afraid (if you were/are like me lah). She’s one of IK’s dedicated intercessor in the prayer team and to be honest, I’m far off her league (now you understand why I felt nervous?).

She told me that while we were praying before, she saw a pair of shoe/sandal on a rock near a river. Since she does not own any sandal like that, she asked God what’s the meaning of it. God told her to seek for the owner of the sandal and tell the owner that God loves her and to put rest on Him. She said that she had been looking for me (well to be exact my sandal) by asking people to show her their footwear. Suddenly the vision of the waterfall and the river came back to me. It was not mind-wandering vision after all and God showed me the clearest, unshaken evidence to that vision by giving the other part of my vision to another dear sister, who was not just any sister but an intercessor and He brought her to me!! I was speechless and after I grab back myself together again which took a while, I thanked her. She asked if I was somehow troubled or needed anything. I confessed that I was troubled with some of my study work loads back on the campus and about a few things more. She prayed for me thereafter.

Now, when I am in trouble, my encounter with that priceless experience rejuvenated me. Though there were times I felt helpless, I will be then reminded by God to put rest on Him.

“Because the LORD is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He restores my failing health. He helps me do what honours Him the most. Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.” Psalm 23:1-4

MINTA
Kenapa manusia MINTA? Untuk mendapatkan sesuatu
Bagaimana meMINTA? Melalui doa
Kenapa Tuhan tidak terus beri? Tuhan ada masanya sendiri.

Anggapan bahwa Tuhan akan memberi apa sahaja yang kita minta sebenarnya menandakan kita menganggap Tuhan itu seperti hamba (ikut cakap kita). Adakah kita sengaja minta hal yang bukan-bukan? Mintalah dengan mengenal Tuhan kita. Tuhan memberi yang sesuai dengan kita; contoh, Tuhan tidak akan beri kereta Mercedes kepada orang miskin. Walaupun Tuhan mampu melakukan itu, adakah orang miskin itu mampu memiliki kereta tersebut (bayar ansuran/ minyak kereta/ servis).

CARI
Manusia CARI Tuhan untuk dapatkan jawapan.
Bagaimana CARI jawapan? Alkitab

Ada yang mencari shortcut (jalan pintas) untuk dapatkan jawapan. Tuhan tidak kabulkan doa secara shortcut (kecuali hal-hal tertentu). Macam mana Tuhan kabulkan doa? Dia berjalan secara perlahan. Dia pentingkan proses. Dia melihat hati kita.

Ilustrasi:
Seorang isteri yang sedang sakit bersalin dihantar ke hospital oleh suaminya. Si suami akan memandu dengan laju, terus ke hadapan, ke arah TUJUAN. Mereka tidak akan berhenti di tepi jalan untuk menikmati pemandangan yang indah. Jika boleh, si suami akan menggunakan jalan pintas/ shortcut untuk sampai di hospital. Yang penting CEPAT. Manusia kini kebanyakannya seperti itu. Namun Tuhan itu berjalan perlahan. Kalau Dia terlihat sekuntum bunga di pinggir jalan, Dia akan berhenti untuk menikmati keindahan bunga tersebut. Jika ada orang yang meminta tolong di belakang, Dia akan mundur semula dan meluangkan masanya. Tuhan tidak terkejar-kejar ke arah TUJUAN, Dia pentingkan PROSES keseluruhannya.

Kenapa ketuk? Perlakuan mengetuk bermaksud lambang penghormatan kita kepada Tuhan

Anda tidak terus menerjah masuk ke rumah orang lain untuk mencari seseorang (tidak beradab). Hanya polis yang ingin menangkap penjenayah sahaja yang akan berbuat demikian.

Dengan erti kata lain;

MINTA:

sebab kita tidak mengetahui masa depan/ segala hal
sebab kita tidak mempunyai kuasa
sebab kita perlu rendah hati (orang yang tidak meminta/ minta pertolongan adalah orang yang sombong)

Walaupun Tuhan sudah mengetahui isi hati kita (Matius 6:8), namun kita meminta kepada Tuhan adalah seperti kita mengiyakan Tuhan. Tuhan sangat menanti-nantikan kita untuk datang dan meminta kepadaNya (seperti ibubapa mendengar anak kecil mereka belajar memanggil mereka ibu atau bapa).

In Difficulties - Allah Peduli -

Received a SMS last night and it kinda troubling my mind a bit. I tried to forgo with the current situation which was not an easy task for me and suddenly this matter arose, again. I usually shared almost everything with my spouse but not with this SMS thing since the person who SMS me asked me to keep this matter to myself until the matter being solved. Plus, with hubby's burdens on his works' loads and his responsibilities around his neck, I wouldn't want to tell him an issue that still on the line, hanging.

As I went to sleep last night, I prayed for a relief from God from the burdens that had been around, unseen yet it was there. Shame on me, it was a short pray since the matter took my mind over. Then I took my Bible and flip here and there when then I was moved to check in the Book of James (Yakobus). I don't bumped into it, I have to check my Bible contents to actually find where the Book of James is (seriously).

I started reading from the first verse on to the next.

James 1:2-4

"Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is tough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow and don't try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete."

James 1:12 - 16

"Happy is the man who doesn't give in and do wrong when he is tempted, for afterwards he will get as his reward the crown of life that God has promised those who love him. And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it. Temptation is the pull of man's own evil thoughts and wishes. These evil thoughts lead to evil actions and afterwards to the death penalty from God. So don't be misled, dear brothers."

I read the whole Book of James and cried while reading it through. It as if God was speaking directly to me. I prayed again after that; thanking Him for blessing me with great moments and his guidance in life. Apart from that, I'm glad He never forsake me. A joy in living right?

I hope this post will be an encouragement for some.

Halloween or All-Saints Day???

It's almost the time of the year again where you are supposed to be afraid to spooky pumpkins and children wearing all sorts of costumes for the holiday, Halloween.

What's about Halloween? Should Christian celebrate it? Is it a celebration of the Devil? I made a few searches on this topic and found some interesting articles. So, are you prepared for the truth?

The root of this celebration belongs to pagan. It is widely believed today that the Pope was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. But did you know that it was the same thing with Easter and Christmas?? Read more about the origin of this celebration.

I think there's no harm in learning history and knowing some background of the world's celebration. Atleast, if you're either in it or offending it, you should have your knowledge on things. Rather than folowing it blindly!

An article written by Harold Myra explained briefly about this celebration.

"The truth is that Halloween's deepest roots are decidedly pagan, and unlike Christmas and Easter, it as kept those pagan roots, despite its now Christian name. The controversy surrounding this holiday goes back well over a thousand years to when Christians confronted pagan rites of appeasing the lord of death and evil spirits. But the early Christians didn't simply speak out; they tried to institute a Christian alternative. All Hallow's Day (November 1) was a celebration of all "the holies" - those people who had died faithful to Christ.

So, can we celebrate Halloween? Maybe you should read this article titled Matters of Opinion: Hallowing Halloween written by Anderson M. Rearick III. I know that some people will oppose to his thinking but I like the way he said it,

"The one thing Satan cannot bear is to be a source of laughter. His pride is undermined by his own knowledge that his infernal rebellion against God is in reality an absurd farce. Hating laughter, he demands to be taken seriously. Indeed, I would say that those Christians who spend the night of October 31 filled with concern over what evils might be (and sometimes are) taking place are doing the very thing Lucifer wants them to do. By giving him this respect, such believers are giving his authority credence."

and

"If we give up All Hallows Eve, we lose the delight of God's gift of imagination and we condemn the rest of society to a darker Halloween because our laughter will not be there to make the devil run."

And what a great way to look at it through the next writer's eye:

Religion? Each balloon is inscribed with a brief Bible verse that helps you think about the costume in a whole new light.
A few examples:

Skeleton: "You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones" (Matthew 23:27).

Wolfman: "His whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau" (Genesis 25:25).

Devil: "Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil" (Acts 10:38).

Ghost: "Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have" (Luke 24:39).

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways" (James 1:8).

Frankenstein: "The whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work" (Ephesians 4:16).

I can't decide what to do about a witch's costume. There are plenty of citations in the Bible against witchcraft and sorcery, so I have to be careful. I may adapt 1 Samuel 28, in which the witch of Endor conjures up the spirit of the dead Samuel, scaring herself and King Saul half to death. If that's too wild, my backup is a prophecy in Isaiah against Babylon, in which God declares, "I will sweep her with the broom of destruction."

Me & Doulos, once upon a time

Okay, so I decided to start the Personal Testimony here in our blog. Hope that the authors out there (that I've invited) named a few --> Evangel, Thom, Arnold, Nana & Ben will be inspired to write one (or many-many) as well. Suddenly... out of nowhere, my memories on Doulos came back to me. I felt the urge to check what's happening about Doulos now. Got to know that she's in Fremantle, Australia now. So... who is Doulos? Here she is.... isn't she's a beauty..??

For those who are still questioning about what with this ship anyway... you may check it's history here.

Ok, back to my story. There are people I knew who have a very hard time to believe that I had been volunteered as a crew for one week on this ship and I was only 15 back then. Yes... just fresh after PMR. I remembered clearly how I was really-really-really hoping to be assigned in the Book Fair Department. That WAS the ONLY reason why I volunteered (at least in the beginning). And I remembered how frustrated I was when I fliped my name card where it clearly written the section where I were assigned - PANTRY!!

Where is PANTRY??? A place between the the kitchen and the dining hall. So I was the waitress in action (yes... that's include the white apron - minus the french maid looks!!) and I was the only one volunteer assigned there! Oh... how I hated it regardless what our supervisor's last word before we went to our assigned place. I was so..... mad+frust that I don't even noticed what the volunteers' supervisor had said until... (ingat dalam Amsal--> kemarahan dalam kebodohan... yes, I had that moment!)

After a couple of days volunteering, I had a chat with my friend, Ervinna (only the two of us represented SIB and she was assigned at my wish list spot). She mentioned about the heat at the deck especially during noon time and the tiredness from moving the books to and from the deck and the storage room. If you haven't been on the ship, the book fair is on the deck (at least during my time) and don't have air conditioner. So just imagine yourself feeling the heat at 1-3 noon. At that time, all the selfish desire I had for myself been cleared and our supervisor's last word before we started our volunteering thingy make sense: We had prayed for this and I want you all to know that God had given you the right place even when you think it's not fair.

Some helpful infos for those who doesn't really know me --> I can't tolerate with excessive heat and dust (can get rash and nausea), and I'm not someone who have an amount of energy to do physically thing (get tired and sick easily). However, learned to be content with what I have now *wink-wink* . It's a good thing that Ervinna's quite a tough girl (she's not a tomboy ok!!!)

Hm... me and my foolishness desires. *hehehe...* Moral of thy experience: Be thankful.. *ehehe..* Well, there's actually another un-thankful girl (like me *smile*) assigned in the Kitchen and we found out that she's actually have gastric and it's a good thing she was in the kitchen, surrounded with food all the time. The two of us actually managed to taste the Valentine's special cookies (courtesy of the chief) .. hehe.. yummy!! And as for me working in the pantry was the best since we only get busy before and after lunch & dinner time, and I can wander off wherever I want in the between as long I'll be around when the rushing hour is almost there. Plus, the dining hall and the pantry have air-cond!! (of course la!!!)

A thing that I regretted the most was NOT to take picture !!! (it really doesn't cross my mind at that time) I don't even have a single picture !!! How foolish I was since it's a once-in-a-lifetime-&-very-very-very-rare experience. What was I thinking back then. No wonder people had a hard time to believe since I don't have the evidence!! *sigh* kakakakka!!! Well, hope the ship will Labuan in her tour's schedule before she might be de-commissioned in 2010.

Helpful tips for the youngster outhere:

Grab any opportunity while you're still young. You'll never regret it. Trust me!
Don't get dissapointed if the program that you're in bored you to **** (can't say... dangerous!). You'll cherish it when you're 'quarter-old' like me! *lol*
Don't forget to take and keep your pictures even it's a bad hair day for you (means you don't look all pretty or handsome in it)

Why Did God Create Man and Woman?

There are many reasons for God choosing to take a pile of dirt from the earth and breathe His own breath into it, but one of the most fascinating reasons, and one most rejected by human nature is - friendship.

Why would we even believe that friendship could be a possibility in our relationship with God? What makes friends? What are the ingredients that make up friendship? (I asked the group to give me their answers and they were enlightening to say the least.)

INGREDIENTS THAT MAKE UP FRIENDSHIP:

FUN: Friends have fun together.

SECRETS: Friends share secrets with each other.

INTERESTS: Friends share the same interests.

COMMUNICATE: Friends love to communicate with each other whether near or from far.

WHAT DO FRIENDS DO FOR EACH OTHER?

They are LOYAL.

They are PATIENT.

They are FORGIVING. They will cover each other's faults.

They are HONEST - "A mere friend will always agree with you, a true friend will argue."

They are EQUAL - "Love is different to friendship. Love demands opposites and extremes. Friendship demands equality."

Now let's bring this into our relationship with God. Proverbs 16:28 says, "A whisperer will divide the closest of friends." (Also read Genesis 1:26-28.)

Waktu itu, ketika saya masih seorang sukarelawan yang bekerja di sebuah rumah sakit, saya berkenalan dengan seorang gadis kecil yang bernama Liz, seorang penderita satu penyakit serius yang sangat jarang. Kesempatan sembuh, hanya ada pada adiknya, seorang budak lelaki kecil yang berumur 5 tahun, yang secara mujizat sembuh dari penyakit yang sama. Anak ini memiliki antibodi yang diperlukan untuk melawan penyakit itu. Doktor kemudian mencoba menerangkan situasi lengkap perubatan tersebut ke anak kecil ini, dan bertanya apakah ia sedia memberikan darahnya kepada kakak perempuannya. Saya melihat si kecil itu ragu-ragu sebentar, sebelum mengambil nafas panjang dan berkata "Baiklah... Saya akan melakukan hal tersebut.... asalkan itu boleh menyelamatkan kakakku". Mengikuti proses tranfusi darah, si kecil ini berbaring di tempat tidur, disamping kakaknya. Wajah sang kakak mulai memerah, tetapi Wajah si kecil mulai pucat dan senyumnya menghilang. Si kecil melihat ke dokter itu, dan bertanya dalam suara yang bergetar...katanya "Apakah saya akan langsung mati dokter... ?" Rupanya si kecil sedikit salah pengertian. 4. Pelajaran penting ke-4 - Penghalang di Jalan Kita

Zaman dahulu kala, tersebutlah seorang Raja, yang menempatkan sebuah batu besar di tengah-tengah jalan. Raja tersebut kemudian bersembunyi, untuk melihat apakah ada yang mau menyingkirkan batu itu dari jalan.

Beberapa pedagang ter-kaya yang menjadi rakan raja tiba, berjalan melingkari batu besar tersebut. Banyak juga yang datang, kemudian memaki-maki sang Raja, karena tidak membersihkan jalan dari rintangan. Tetapi tidak ada satupun yang mau melancarkan jalan dengan menyingkirkan batu itu.

Kemudian datanglah seorang petani, yang menggendong banyak sekali sayur. Ketika semakin dekat, petani ini kemudian meletakkan dahulu bebannya, dan cuba memindahkan batu itu ke pinggir jalan. Setelah banyak mendorong dan mendorong, akhirnya ia berhasil menyingkirkan batu besar itu. Ketika si petani ingin mengangkat kembali sayurnya, ternyata ditempat batu tadi ada kantung yang berisi banyak uang emas dan surat Raja. Surat yang mengatakan bahwa emas ini hanya untuk orang yang mau menyingkirkan batu tersebut dari jalan.

Petani ini kemudian belajar, satu pelajaran yang kita tidak pernah bisa mengerti. Bahwa pada dalam setiap rintangan, tersembunyi kesempatan yang bisa dipakai untuk memperbaiki hidup kita.

"Selalulah perhatikan dan ingat, pada semua yang anda layani. "

Di zaman 'ice cream sundae' masih murah, seorang anak laki-laki umur 10 tahun masuk ke Coffee Shop Hotel, dan duduk di meja. Seorang pelayan wanita menghampiri, dan memberikan air putih dihadapannya.

Anak ini kemudian bertanya " Berapa ya,... harga satu ice cream sundae ?"

"50 sen..." balas si pelayan.

Si anak kemudian mengeluarkan isi sakunya dan menghitung dan mempelajari koin-koin di kantongnya....

"Wah... Kalau ice cream yang biasa saja berapa ?" katanya lagi.

Tetapi kali ini orang-orang yang duduk di meja-meja lain sudah mulai banyak... dan pelayan ini mulai tidak sabar.

"35 sen" kata si pelayan sambil uring-uringan.

Anak ini mulai menghitungi dan mempelajari lagi koin-koin yang tadi dikantongnya.

"Bu... saya pesan yang ice cream biasa saja ya..." ujarnya.

Sang pelayan kemudian membawa ice cream tersebut, meletakkan kertas kuitansi di atas meja dan terus melengos berjalan. Si anak ini kemudian makan ice-cream, bayar di kaunter, dan pergi. Ketika si Pelayan wanita ini kembali untuk membersihkan meja si anak kecil tadi, dia mulai menangis terharu. Rapi tersusun disamping piring kecilnya yang kosong, ada 2 keping koin 10-sen dan 5 keping koin 1-sen. (Anak kecil tadi sebenarnya ada duit 50sen)

Anda bisa lihat... anak kecil ini tidak bisa pesan Ice-cream Sundae, karena tidak memiliki cukup untuk memberi sang pelayan uang tip yang "layak" ......

2. Pelajaran Penting-2 "Penumpang yang kehujanan "

Tahun 60-an: Malam itu, pukul setengah dua belas malam. Seorang wanita negro rapi yang sudah berumur, sedang berdiri di tepi jalan tol Alabama. Ia nampak mencuba bertahan dalam hujan yang sangat lebat, yang hampir seperti badai. Keretanya kelihatannya rosak, dan wanita ini sangat ingin menumpang kereta. Dalam keadaan basah kuyup, ia mencuba menghentikan setiap kenderaan yang lalu.

Kereta berikutnya dipandu oleh seorang pemuda, dia berhenti untuk menolong wanita ini. Kelihatannya pemuda ini tidak faham akan konflik etnik tahun 1960-an, yaitu pada saat itu. Pemuda ini akhirnya membawa wanita negro itu selamat hingga suatu tempat, untuk mendapatkan pertolongan, lalu mencarikan wanita tersebut teksi. Walaupun sangat tergesa-gesa, wanita tadi bertanya tentang alamat si pemuda itu, menulisnya, lalu mengucapkan terima kasih pada si pemuda.

7 hari berlalu, dan tiba-tiba pintu rumah pemuda ini diketuk seseorang. Kejutan baginya, karena yang datang ternyata kiriman sebuah TV set besar (1960-an !) khusus dikirim ke rumahnya. Terselip surat kecil tertampal di TV, yang isinya adalah :

"Terima kasih nak, karena membantuku di jalan Tol malam itu. Hujan tidak hanya membasahi bajuku, tetapi juga jiwaku. Untung saja anda datang dan menolong saya. Karena pertolongan anda, saya masih sempat untuk hadir disisi suamiku yang sedang sekarat... hingga wafatnya. Tuhan memberkati anda, karena membantu saya dan tidak mementingkan dirimu pada saat itu" TertandaNy. Nat King Cole

1. Pelajaran Penting-1: Pengorbanan dan bukti Kasih...

Pada bulan ke-2 di awal kuliah saya, seorang Profesor memberikan quiz mendadak pada kami. Karena kebetulan cukup menyemak semua kuliah-kuliahnya, saya cukup cepat menyelesaikan soal-soal quiz, sampai pada soal yang terakhir.

Isi Soal terakhir ini adalah : Siapa nama depan wanita yang menjadi petugas pembersih sekolah ?. Saya yakin soal ini cuma "bercanda" (gurauan). Saya sering melihat perempuan ini. Tinggi, berambut gelap dan berusia sekitar 50-an, tapi bagaimana saya tahu nama depannya... ? Saya kumpulkan saja kertas ujian saya, tentu saja dengan jawaban soal terakhir kosong.

Sebelum kelas selesai, seorang rekan bertanya pada Profesor itu, mengenai soal terakhir akan "dikira" atau tidak. "Tentu Saja dikira!!" kata si Profesor. "Pada perjalanan kariermu, kamu akan bertemu banyak orang. Semuanya penting !. Semua harus kamu perhatikan dan pelihara, walaupun itu cuma dengan sepotong senyuman, atau sekilas "hello" !

Saya selalu ingat pelajaran itu. Saya kemudian tahu, bahwa nama depan ibu pembersih sekolah adalah "Dorothy".

Spirit Worship

Not to make your life more complicated than it already is, but do you mind if I suggest that you reconsider how you worship God?

Did you ever consider then possibility that it's vital to worships all three persons of the trinity: God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit?

Actually, I would guess that you're already pretty at worshiping God the Father and that you understand how absolutely vital Jesus is in your salvation. but what about the holy spirit?

Is it possible we do not realize that as one of the three co-equal members of the Godhead, the holy spirit deserves our worship too?

We often refer the holy spirit is as the "third Person of the Godhead," but that should never make us consider Him to be any less important than the Father of the Son.

One of the best ways to renew your appreciation for the Holy Spirit is to review all things he has done and still does for you. For instance, it was only because of the holy spirit's work in your life that you become a believer in Jesus Christ. It was the Holy Spirit who convicted you of sin and helped you realize that you needed a savior. Then, the moment you trusted Christ as Savior, the holy spirit regenerated you (john 3:6), made you a part of the body of Christ, the church (1 corinthians 12:13), and sealed you forever (ephesians 1:13).

Remarkable, isn't it? And now that you are Christian-because Gd sent His Son, Jesus was obedient to death, and the Holy Spirit led you to salvation-the Holy Spirit is still active at you. He guides you, He gives you spiritual gifts with which to serve God, and He prays for you.

Next time you praise God, then, spend some time praising the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

~One of the ways to praise the Spirit is by not "putting out the Spirit's fire" (1 thessalonians 5:19). what do I think this means?

Interesting things (for me) to take note from latest book I read. -written by Susan Tang.-

page (5) : Ya kita yang sekarang ini bapa dan ibu rohani di negara ini, dengan hikmat atau kebodohan kita, kita sedang membentukkan masa depan bagi generasi seterusnya. Sebelum Tuhan memanggil kita pulang, adanya destini yang kita mesti berazam untuk memasuki iaitu kita mesti mengimpak anak-anak kita dan generasi-generasi akan datang dengan suatu warisan rohani yang diperkayakan dan diperkuatkan dengan ketepatan.

page (6): ...inilah panggilan tertinggi dan tempat penghormatan teragung anda... Semoga ramai yang membaca buku ini akan disedarkan untuk kembali kepada tempat istimewa mereka-tempat pelayanan dalam bilik doa. Lepaskanlah yang tidak penting. Lepaskanlah beberapa tugas Gereja anda, kurangkan masa internet anda, masa tidur dan kembali kepada jalan-jalan lama Allah.

page (25): Ya, raja-raja boleh memiliki nafsu-perang dan pelayan-pelayan boleh memiliki 'nafsu-pelayanan'. Ianya selalu merbahaya apabila kita terlalu mengenal pelayanan tetapi begitu jauh dari Allah.

page (32): Mengapa begitu ramai orang Kristian memberikan diri mereka kepada kata-kata kosong? kerana mereka telah kehilangan kenyataan... Mereka mungkin mengucapkan perkataan canggih tetapi malangnya mereka tidak mempunyai keteguhan atau kebenaran dan akibatnya mereka tidak dapat membawa perubahan yang benar atau dorongan kepada hati manusia. Perkataan kosong menunjukkan kehidupan yang kosong dan longgar, kehidupan tanpa disiplin Kristian yang benar. Malangnya orang-orang yang bercakap kosong atau sia-sia tidah terhad kepada perhubungan harian, kebanyakan mereka juga ditemui di belakang mimbar hari ini.

Kata-kata manis tidak menghormati Allah mahupun manusia kerana ia merupakan penipuan dan akan mengakibatkan hasil yang mati. Itulah sebabnya mereka yang bercakap kata-kata manis dipanggil PEMBURU JIWA oleh Allah. Kita memanggil kata-kata manis percakapan yang licin kerana ia tidak akan mengancam. Christian's Ways to Reduce Stress.

An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."

1. Pray

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and unclutter your life.

7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.

15 Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16 Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.

17. Get enough rest.

18. Eat right.

19. Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a tape (or CD) while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.

22. Every day, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.

24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you Jesus."

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (MOST people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33. Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

PMM SIB Kawasan Beaufort telah menganjurkan retreat di Pantai Sewangan Kuala Penyu, Sabah pada 26 – 27 Januari 2008. PMM dari SIB Pohon Batu dan Bandar beserta dengan pelajar-pelajar dari KML turut serta dalam retreat ini. Walaupun tempoh agak singkat (semalaman sahaja), namun ia aktiviti yang memberkati untuk memulakan tahun baru ini.

"Father's Day Photo Album"

I was surfing the net and I came a cross a "Father's Day Photo Album." It was a collection of photos of fathers and their children. These photos had been sent in by people who wanted to share them. In one picture a man was sitting with his son in a fishing boat. In another, two fathers were with their children on the shore. Each of the photos showed a father and his children smiling and happy.

At that same site there were surveys and discussions of the state of Fatherhood. As I read this discussion I realized that the photo album was not presenting the real life situation. The photos were the ideal of what fatherhood should look like. The discussions brought up the realities of absentee fathers. The reality of fathers who feel the need to work overtime or who are emotionally isolated from their children.

There were some bright spots. Many people thought that fathers were getting more involved in the raising of their children by choice. There was a lot of discussion about changing diapers. "I have changed hundreds of diapers but my father barely changed a dozen" one father proudly proclaimed. But even this points toward an ideal that is not yet reached. We want fathers to be involved in the lives of their children and grandfathers too. We want that picture perfect relationship of father to child for all children. We fathers wish we could be that way and our wives do too. We wish all children could have a relationship with their father that fits the photo album ideal.

Father's Day is a little different in the church than in the world. In the church all men are fathers. Each time a child is baptized in the church the whole church promises to "nurture one another in the Christian faith and include" the child being baptized in that nurturing. We also promise to "surround them with a community of love and forgiveness that they may grow in service and love to others" and to pray for them. Any Christian man who takes those vows takes the responsibility of raising and nurturing those children in the faith.

A good example of Christian fatherhood is Paul and Timothy. Paul was not Timothy's biological father. Timothy's biological father was an absentee father - at least he is absent from the Bible. All we know about him is that he was not a Christian. We don't even know his name but we know the names of Timothy's mother and grandmother which indicates that they had a deeper relationship with him than his father.

In many ways Paul filled this void. He became a father figure to Timothy. He took Timothy under his wing and "nurtured him in the Christian faith." He even called Timothy his "son."(1 Tim. 1:18, 2 Tim 2:1) And Timothy grew to be a dedicated servant of God in part because of the care of his father in the faith.

So if we were to create a photo album filled with pictures of the ideal of Christian fatherhood what would it look like? It would include men teaching children to pray. It would include pictures of men working beside children in serving others. It would show men and children laughing and playing at Church picnics, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. It would show men listening to young people as they talk about their problems. It would have picture after picture of men passing on the faith.

That is what we want to see. We want to see the faith growing in the lives of our children. We want to see the same thing Jesus was talking about in Mark. He said, "The kingdom of God is like someone who scatters seeds and then they grow." The point is that all the farmer does is scatter the seed. The seed grows on its own. And finally it comes to fruit.
Jesus further emphasizes this point with his next parable. He said the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed. It is so small but it grows into a huge plant. Faith is like that: It starts with a small seed but it grew into something big. Faith may start with singing "Jesus Loves Me" but it grows into the faith of a Luther, or Susannah, or Wesley, or Theresa.

We want to see faith growing like a mustard seed in our children's lives. We want to see faith in God shoring up the lives of our children. We want to see youth who are standing on the solid rock of Christ. We want to see the love of God coming to full fruit as young people serve others in the name of Christ and devote themselves to Christ.

But in order to see all this we first have to plant it. And to plant it we first have to have it growing in our lives. The Kingdom of God is like a man who tried to get grass to grow in a dandelion patch. Year after year he yearned for grass to grow there but only more dandelions grew until one year he got rid of the dandelions and planted grass seed. Our children are catching the seeds falling from our lives. If we have faith and the fruits of the Spirit growing in our lives those are the seeds that will grow in our children's lives. But if we have the dandelions of the world growing, that is what will germinate and grow to fruition and its seeds will fall into our children's hearts.

Put simply: if we want our children to grow in faith we must be people of faith. We have to live the faith, to study the Word of God, to model the love of God. Then those things will fall in the soil of our children's hearts and minds and grow.

Fathers - when was the last time you prayed with your children? When was the last time your children saw you reading the Bible? When was the last time you told them that you love them and that God loves them? When was the last time you helped with children in the church?

To train our children to follow Christ we first have to be following Christ ourselves. To see faith growing in their lives it must first be growing in ours. To see them devoting their lives to Christ, we must first devote our lives to Christ. To see the fruits of the Spirit growing in the lives of our children they must first be growing in our lives.
